Blue Jays: 25 Man Roster & Starting Rotation Set

Today the Blue Jays finalized their 25 man roster which came along with a few surprises. The most notable omission is catcher Erik Kratz who had a fantastic spring and appeared to do a fine job of catching the knuckleball from R.A. Dickey. Additionally J.A. Happ was moved to the DL with “back soreness” in light of his out of this world awful spring performance. The Blue Jays have to be hoping Happ’s terrible spring is a result of his injury, when in good form he is a decent back of the rotation option.

Here is the 25 man roster!

C  – Dioner Navarro
1B – Edwin Encarnacion
2B – Ryan Goins
SS – Jose Reyes
3B – Brett Lawrie
LF – Melky Cabrera
CF – Colby Rasmus
RF – Jose Bautista
DH – Adam Lind
BN – Josh Thole (C)
BN – Maicer Izturis (IF)
BN – Moises Sierra (OF)

SP – R.A. Dickey
SP – Drew Hutchison
SP – Mark Buehrle
SP – Brandon Morrow
SP – Dustin McGowan

RP – Esmil Rogers
RP – Todd Redmond
RP – Jeremy Jeffress
RP – Aaron Loup
RP – Steve Delabar
RP – Sergio Santos
RP – Brett Cecil
CL – Casey Janssen

Having the 8 man bullpen is not ideal but once the season gets going and all of the Starting Pitchers are up to full strength we might see some changes. AA might try to slip Jeffress through waivers again, or one of Rogers/Redmond could be moved.

Looks like Rajai Davis will be missed

He really is… Rajai really is the perfect 4th OF with that speed and he can hit a bit also.
