Braves Name Julio Teheran Opening Day Starter

The Atlanta Braves officially named right-handerĀ Julio TeheranĀ as their opening day starter on Saturday.

It will be the first opening day start for the 23-year-old Teheran, who went 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA and a 3.78 strikeouts-to-walks ratio for the Braves last season.

Teheran’s strong play netted him a fifth-place finish in the National League’s 2013 Rookie of the Year voting and the Braves rewarded their young star with a 6-year, $32.4 million contract extension in February.
