Chapman hit with line drive, game called
In the bottom of the 6th inning at Surprise Stadium in Cactus League action Aroldis Chapman was struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez. He immediately rolled over onto his stomach with his legs kicking the ground in obvious pain. The trainers were quick on the scene as the crowd was silenced and the players for both teams gathered around the mound, most knelt on one knee. After an estimated 10-12 minutes he was placed on a back brace and carted off the field and out the exit in left field to an awaiting ambulance. He was immediately taken to Dell E. Webb Medical Center where he was preliminarily diagnosed with broken bones above both his left eye and his nose. We at baseballbabble.com wish the best for him Aroldis, his family and the Red’s organization in this tragic situation.
