Pirates Sign Starling Marte To Six-Year Contract Extension

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed outfielder Starling Marte to a new six-year, $31 million contract extension according to multiple reports.

The deal covers Marte’s five remaining years of team control and at least one free agent year and also includes options for two more free agent years.

The 25-year-old Marte hit .280/.343/.441 with 26 doubles, 10 triples, 12 home runs, and 41 stolen bases for the Pirates last season in his first full season in the major leagues.
