Rangers’ Yu Darvish Scratched From Opening Day Start

The Texas Rangers have scratched right-hander Yu Darvish from his opening day start due to a neck injury.

Darvish will be examined later this week by a neck and back specialist and the injury-riddled Rangers are hoping that he will be able to avoid a stint on the disabled list.

The 27-year-old Darvish went 13-9 with a 2.83 ERA and 277 strikeouts for the Rangers last season and finished second in the American League’s Cy Young Award voting.
