This weeks “Must Do” Cactus League Event

Throughout the Cactus League there are tons of great games and food and family fun. I am going to have a weekly article ranking the weeks events and giving you some suggestions at what I consider the “Must Do” events while you are visiting or living in Arizona.

This week there is an event going on that involves current and past players, as well as activities for young and old people. Everyone should find something they love to do at Baseball City – the largest and only interactive Spring Training event in the country. This spectacular event takes place Saturday and Sunday March 15th and 16th from the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix Arizona with $1.00 of each ticket sold going to the Arizona based Make-A-Wish Foundation. Ticket prices are very affordable, decrease by age and are cheaper if you purchase on-line before the event.

Both days the over 60,000 square foot event area will feature a Home Run Derby Field and Steal Home and a Speed Pitch competitions. You will be able to check out the newest baseball products and gear at Brand Activation Platforms from numerous familiar vendors such as Pepsi/Gatorade, the Hitting Jack, Lids and Under Armor . There will be Make-A-Wish Foundation kids clinics with former All-Star Russ Ortiz and current All-Star Pablo Sandoval.  If that is not enough, the MLB Network will be there to broadcast it’s signature show MLB Tonight on-site.

Saturdays line-up includes such stars as Hall of Famers Orlando Cepeda and Ferguson Jenkins, former controversial baseball star Jose Canseco and current players for the Arizona Diamondbacks Aaron Hill and Martin Prado. Sundays line-up includes more great stars like Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Gaylord Perry and other baseball legends including Steve Garvey, Edgar Martinez, and Don Baylor.  Current players from the Kansas City Royals Billy Butler and Salvador Perez as well as from the San Francisco Giants Pablo Sandoval. Other players scheduled to appear are; Scott Kazmir, Brett Anderson, Ryan Vogelsong, and Adam Dunn plus many more. You can get all the information for ticket prices and times of player availability from this link and just as a bonus (yeah right) I will be there on Sunday tweeting out photos from the event. If you approach me nicely, I will try to take your picture with a famous baseball player so you can retweet it and make all your fans jealous at @baseballentine. See you there!
